Malhaar, an art and culture studio based in Dubai, has unveiled a poignant video showcasing young Indian children performing the UAE National Anthem using traditional Indian instruments.

The video features a group of young expatriate students, who consider the UAE their second home, coming together in a warm and simple setting to deliver a powerful instrumental version of the national anthem as an ensemble.

Rooted in Indian classical training, their performance serves as a heartfelt homage to the nation that has provided their families with opportunities, safety, and a sense of belonging.

A Tribute Born Out of the UAE

The children utilize Indian instruments such as the harmonium and tabla, infusing the familiar melody of the anthem with a new warmth and texture.

Why Booker winner Banu Mushtaq refuses to 'internationalise' her language
For Banu Mushtaq, writer, activist, lawyer, and winner of the 2025 International Booker Prize for Heart Lamp, literature has always been an instrument of truth and resistance. One of India’s most fearless literary voices, she emerged from Karnataka’s Bandaya Sahitya movement of the 1970s and '80s, a radical wave of writers who challenged caste, class, and gender hierarchies through words that burned with conviction. Among that pioneering generation, Banu stood out as one of the few women whose voice carried both rebellion and grace.
